Punjab Launches Statewide STEMI Project to Treat Heart Attacks
Imagine your heart is like a road and blood is like cars delivering supplies.
Sometimes, a blood clot blocks the road (STEMI heart attack), stopping the supplies.
Punjab is starting a project to help people with these heart attacks.
They are giving free medicine called Tenecteplase to break up the blood clots, like clearing a traffic jam.
Doctors in smaller hospitals are getting special training and will work with bigger hospitals to help patients fast.
This way, people get help quicker and have a better chance to recover.
Punjab Health Minister launched a statewide expansion of the STEMI project on National Doctor's Day.
The project aims to improve outcomes for patients experiencing ST-segment Elevated Myocardial Infarction (STEMI).
The project will provide free Tenecteplase injections at district health facilities to dissolve blood clots.
District and sub-divisional hospitals will serve as 'Spoke' centers, supported by 'Hub' hospitals via tele-ECG consultation.
Over 700 staff members from all 23 districts have undergone training for the project.
