West Bengal Says Dengue Under Control, Announces Cleanliness Drive

West Bengal officials are watching dengue cases closely.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said the situation is under control.

He said there have been more than 4,000 cases this year, compared with more than 7,600 last year.

The government will hold cleanliness drives from September 2 to September 5.

These drives are meant to help stop mosquitoes and teach people how to prevent dengue.

Five districts, including Kolkata, were identified as especially affected.

The government also told different departments to work together on mosquito control.

Separately, it announced higher pensions and health insurance benefits for some journalists.

Treatment network: The schemes provide access to treatment in 1,900 hospitals, with treatment also available at 38,000 hospitals across the country.
Recent health-scheme enrollment: The chief minister said 19,700 people enrolled in government health schemes in three months.
