Odisha Government Directs Collectors to Ensure Minimum Teacher Strength

Imagine a school where only one teacher has to teach every subject to all the children.

Some elementary schools in the Indian state of Odisha are like that.

The state government thinks every school should have enough teachers.

So the government sent a letter to the local officials, called collectors.

The letter was sent on August 6.

It tells the collectors to find schools that have only one teacher.

Then the collectors must quickly move teachers around so each school has enough.

This follows a special law called the RTE Act.

The RTE Act says schools must meet minimum standards.

The goal is to make sure every child gets a good education.
