‘Any man, woman caring for family homemaker’: Karnataka High Court hikes accident payout · indianexpress.com

A woman was seriously hurt in a road accident and suffered permanent disability.

She had a postgraduate degree and had worked as a guest lecturer before the accident.

The transport corporation argued that she should not be treated as a homemaker because she was highly educated.

The Karnataka High Court disagreed.

The court recognized the value of the services she provided to her family.

It used Rs 8,000 per month as her estimated income for calculating compensation.

The court added money for her disability and for the household work she could not do while recovering.
