India's Tablet Market Grows as Premium Devices Dominate
India sold more tablets in the first half of 2026 than during the same period a year earlier.
The market grew by 15 per cent.
Most buyers chose more expensive tablets costing above Rs 20,000.
These premium tablets made up 89 per cent of sales.
People also preferred tablets with screens larger than 10 inches and more memory.
Wi-Fi tablet sales increased, while sales of 4G tablets fell.
Apple’s iPad 11 series was especially popular among premium tablets.
However, the market may shrink later in 2026 because parts are becoming more expensive and some large purchases may be delayed.
India’s tablet market grew 15 per cent year-on-year in the first half of 2026.
Tablets priced above Rs 20,000 grew 74 per cent and captured 89 per cent of the market.
Large-screen tablets above 10 inches represented nearly 91 per cent of shipments.
Wi-Fi shipments rose 30 per cent, while 5G grew 8 per cent and 4G declined 19 per cent.
CyberMedia Research forecast a 10-12 per cent market decline in calendar year 2026 because of higher costs, memory shortages and procurement delays.
