A very important leader named Sukhbir Singh Badal was hurt in India recently.

He is the head of a political party called the Shiromani Akali Dal.

While he was at a Sikh holy place called a gurdwara in the city of Nanded, a man attacked him with a special knife called a kirpan.

The police caught the attacker right away.

Sukhbir got small cuts on his hand and shoulder and was taken to a hospital.

His wife, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, thanked the Prime Minister and the Home Minister on the internet for calling to check on him.

The Prime Minister asked central agencies to help the police investigate.

The police are still trying to find out why the man did this.

This was not the first time someone tried to hurt Sukhbir Badal.

His family said that attacking someone inside a gurdwara is very wrong and against Sikh beliefs.
