A very important leader in India was hurt on Thursday.

His name is Sukhbir Singh Badal, and he used to be the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab.

He is also the chief of a political party called the Shiromani Akali Dal.

Someone attacked him with a knife near a Sikh place of worship, called a Gurdwara, in the city of Nanded.

Badal was hurt on his hand, and some reports say his arm and shoulder were also hurt.

He was taken to a private hospital, and he is reported to be in a stable condition.

A police officer was also hurt during the attack.

Police are holding one person they think may be responsible, and officials are still looking into what happened.
