Tamil Nadu to Unify Online Registration for Building Professionals
Tamil Nadu wants to make it easier for building professionals to get registered.
Architects, engineers and town planners currently register separately with different authorities.
The new online system will use one portal for the whole state.
Each approved professional will receive a unique registration number.
This number will work with local bodies and planning authorities across Tamil Nadu.
Professionals already registered through the portal will be moved into the new system automatically.
Registered engineers may later approve some smaller building projects.
The government expects this to reduce delays and repeated paperwork.
It is also meant to support a new third-party approval process.
Tamil Nadu will launch a statewide online registration system for architects, engineers, town planners and other building professionals.
The Directorate of Town and Country Planning will implement the system through the Single Window Portal.
Registered professionals will receive a unique identification number recognised by all local bodies and planning authorities statewide.
Existing portal registrations will be migrated automatically and remain valid until their expiry dates.
Registered engineers may approve eligible smaller buildings, including residential projects up to 8,070 sq ft of FSI area.
