Seven More Arrested in Bollaram Army Arms Theft Case
Police in Malkajgiri arrested seven more people over weapons stolen at the Bollaram army facility.
This brings the number of people arrested in the case to eight.
The first person arrested was an army havildar named U Mallesh.
The newly arrested group includes army personnel, people known to Mallesh, and two arms dealers.
Police Commissioner B Sumathi said they had not found links to terrorism or extremism.
Police said Mallesh had bought a country-made gun and a bullet in 2022.
He hid them at his family’s home and, police said, did not use them in any crime.
Investigators also said Mallesh had a history of burglary cases.

The seven were arrested in addition to Havildar U Mallesh, who was caught on September 11 and sent to judicial remand.
Those named among the seven include army personnel, Mallesh’s relative and friend, and arms dealers Avi Dey and Birbal Shaw.
Police Commissioner B Sumathi said investigators had found no terrorist or extremist connections and said Mallesh acted to pursue major property-related crimes.
Police said Mallesh had bought a country-made firearm and a live round in 2022, concealed them at his family home, and had not used them in any offences.
