ECINET Portal Now Accepts All 11 SIR Documents
A voter-list checking process is happening in Telangana.
Some voters received notices asking them to prove or correct information.
The ECINET website previously allowed only three kinds of documents to be uploaded.
It now accepts all 11 document types approved for this process.
These include documents such as Aadhaar cards, passports, school certificates and residence records.
This means voters can use the recognised document they already have.
They usually do not need to hand in papers in person unless officials ask them to.
Officials must also give voters a signed receipt describing what they submitted.
ECINET now allows Telangana voters to upload all 11 officially recognised supporting documents for the ongoing SIR.
Previously, the portal accepted only birth certificates, educational certificates and passports.
The expanded upload options are available through the ECINET application and the Chief Electoral Officer Telangana SIR portal.
Voters who receive discrepancy notices generally do not need to submit documents physically unless officials specifically request it.
The CEO instructed officials to issue signed acknowledgements detailing submitted documents and the voter’s EPIC number.

Quotes
Neha Amreen and Qudsia Tabassum
Advocates who represented the inclusion of all 11 SIR document categories
“The representation highlighted that limited choice could cause hardship to genuine electors possessing other recognised documents. The change would help electors submit the documents they actually possess and reduce unnecessary procedural difficulties during verification.”
