IIT student's journey from fearing science to Physics perfect score
There was a boy named Aryan who grew up in the city of Surat.
When he was 16, he was scared of science and looked for a career that would not need it.
With help from his mother and some wise people, he decided to give science a real try.
His teacher told him to love learning the science itself and not just study for exams.
Aryan worked hard, and soon the subjects became genuinely fun for him.
He scored full marks in Physics in the big JEE Main exam, which is very hard to do.
That helped him get into a famous engineering college called IIT Guwahati.
At college, he joined drama clubs, performed on big cultural stages, and helped his college win its best-ever prize in an all-IIT contest.
His story shows that being scared of a subject at first does not mean you cannot fall in love with it and succeed.
Aryan Sandeep Gupta, a 21-year-old final-year Data Science and AI student at IIT Guwahati, recounts how he feared science at 16 before scoring a 100 percentile in JEE Main Physics.
In his first JEE Main attempt he scored 99.78 percentile overall, and he secured AIR 1001 in JEE Advanced.
During JoSAA counselling he was allotted DSAI at IIT Guwahati only in the sixth and final round, after initially receiving MnC at IIT Hyderabad and then at IIT Kanpur.
As assistant contingent leader at Inter-IIT Cultural Meet 8.0 in December 2025, he managed a contingent of more than 250 students as IIT Guwahati finished fourth overall — the institute's best-ever placing across inter-IIT cultural meets.
His campus life centred on Xpressions, the institute's dramatics society, and he says the Telugu he learned from friends at IIT Guwahati proved useful during his Microsoft internship in Hyderabad this summer.
