Bhopal Municipal Corporation Seals IB Library Basement Over Fire Lapses
The fire department checked some places where students study in a city called Bhopal.
They wanted to make sure these places are safe in case a fire starts.
They found that a library called IB Library did not have enough safety equipment.
So the city officials closed the basement of that library.
The officials also told seven other places to fix their safety problems.
One of those places is a bank called HDFC Bank.
The bank must put in smoke detectors, fire alarms, and fire extinguishers.
Other places must add fire exits and water-based firefighting systems.
Everyone has two days to finish the work and report back.
The inspection happened on a Friday.
The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) sealed the basement of IB Library in MP Nagar after finding violations of mandatory fire safety norms during a surprise inspection on Friday.
Acting on the instructions of BMC Commissioner Sanskriti Jain, a joint team of the BMC Fire Brigade, zonal officials and district administration officials carried out the inspection of coaching centres and institutions.
IB Library, located at Plot No. 15, Zone-2, was found to have inadequate fire safety arrangements, leading to the sealing of its basement.
Notices were issued to seven other institutions, including HDFC Bank, directing them to install required fire safety equipment and submit compliance reports within two days.
HDFC Bank was instructed to install smoke detectors, fire alarms and fire extinguishers, while other institutions were told to complete pending arrangements such as fire exits, hydrant systems and fixed firefighting facilities.
