CJP Threatens Nationwide October 2 Protest Unless Election Chief Resigns
The Cockroach Janta Party, or CJP, wants Gyanesh Kumar to resign as Chief Election Commissioner.
The party said it will protest across India if he does not resign by the stated deadline.
The protest is planned to begin in Mumbai on October 2.
October 2 is also Gandhi Jayanti.
CJP national convener Abhijeet Dipke announced the plan on Twitter.
He said the party wants to protect democracy.
Dipke also criticised opposition parties for taking part in elections he called rigged.
He argued that continuing to contest those elections makes them appear free and fair.
The Cockroach Janta Party said it will begin a nationwide protest on October 2.
The protest would start in Mumbai and later reach cities across India.
The party is demanding that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resign by the stated deadline.
