Black Soils Support Soya Yields Despite Adilabad Dry Spell
Soya: Farmers Getting Better Yields In Black Soils In Parts Of Adilabad · deccanchronicle.com

Farmers in parts of Adilabad are harvesting soya even though there has been a long dry spell.

Some say their harvest is about 10 quintals per acre.

The crop is doing better in black soil, which holds rainwater and keeps the ground moist.

Soya and cotton in red soil are not doing as well, farmers say.

One farmer, Bhumanna, harvested 30 quintals from three acres.

But some areas saw soya crops dry up by about 20%.

Farmers in a few mandals have had enough rain for their crops.

Last year, bad weather also caused soya losses and lower yields.
