Severe floods and landslides struck Nepal and nearby Tibet after flash floods began on Wednesday.

Officials said hundreds of people died in the disaster.

The latest figures cited in the reports put the total death toll at 584.

More than 2,400 people were still missing.

Some of those missing were local people, security workers, tourists and travelers from other countries.

India said 320 of its citizens were missing and 400 more were stranded on the Chinese side.
