Indians Choose Monsoon Getaways and Short-Haul Trips for Long Weekends
Many Indians have two long weekends close together for Rakshabandhan and Janmashtami.
They are using these breaks to take short trips.
Goa was the most popular place in India for both weekends.
Travellers are interested in Goa’s rainy-season greenery and quieter countryside.
Other popular Indian choices included Mumbai, Puri, Udaipur, and several hill stations.
Singapore was the most popular international destination for both weekends.
Bali, Bangkok, and Dubai were also popular overseas choices.
The findings came from Agoda accommodation searches made between May 1 and July 31.
Goa was the most-searched domestic destination for both the Rakshabandhan and Janmashtami long weekends.
Mumbai and Puri followed Goa for Rakshabandhan, while Udaipur and Mumbai ranked second and third for Janmashtami.
Domestic searches also favoured monsoon destinations such as Ooty, Munnar, and Lonavala, alongside heritage and religious hubs.
Singapore topped international searches for both weekends, with Bali also remaining popular among travellers.
Bangkok ranked third internationally for Rakshabandhan, while Dubai took third place for Janmashtami.
