Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Chennai on Sunday.

He went to a temple at IIT Madras and prayed with the state’s Governor and Chief Minister.

He also visited a brain research centre at the institute.

Modi opened a music learning and research centre named for composer Ilaiyaraaja.

Earlier, he and Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay started the first train on a new part of Chennai’s Metro system.

They rode the train from Porur to Poonamallee.

The Metro corridor was reported to have cost Rs 750 crore.

Modi’s IIT Madras programme also included planned announcements about development projects in Tamil Nadu.
