Apple Plans Paid Siri AI Add‑Ons for iCloud+ Users
Apple said it might put some of its AI tools behind a paywall.
The company will let people use a free version of its Image Playground app, but those who pay for iCloud+ can use it more often and get faster answers.
Some new AI features, like watching home videos with Siri, will only work for people who have the biggest iCloud+ plan.
Apple’s boss, Tim Cook, said the company is still figuring out the details and will show more when the next iOS update comes out.
So, for now, the new AI tools are free for everyone, but the best ones will cost extra.
Apple will offer optional AI add‑ons for Siri, including higher usage limits and faster responses for iCloud+ subscribers.
Image Playground will have a daily free usage limit, with higher limits for iCloud+ users.
Advanced AI features, such as Home app video recording analysis, will be exclusive to the 2 TB iCloud+ plan.
Tim Cook said Apple is still early on the compute‑cost side and has no final plan yet.
The rollout of paid Siri AI features is expected with the upcoming iOS 27 update.

Quotes
Tim Cook
Chief Executive Officer of Apple Inc.
“In terms of what it means for compute cost, it's obviously early going for us, and so I don't want to say that we have a complete plan for that. We do believe there will be people that want to use it a lot and we will have some kind of upgrade possibilities on iCloud+ where people can buy up the stack on iCloud+. We'll see how the pickup for that is.”
