Education Department Reviews Most Files in Special Campaign 5.0
The Department of Higher Education ran a cleanliness and record-management campaign in government offices.
It checked most of its paper files and many electronic files.
Workers also visited about 1,159 locations across India.
They removed old records and scrap, which created more office space.
Selling the scrap brought in Rs 6.89 crore.
More than 3,312 files were turned into digital records.
About 90,629 files were closed or removed from active records.
A new campaign in 2026 will focus especially on handling electronic waste properly.
The Department of Higher Education reviewed 95.2% of 204,859 physical files and 87.46% of 62,564 e-files.
The campaign covered around 1,159 sites across India and freed 14,44,839 square feet of office space.
Officials generated Rs 6.89 crore from scrap disposal and improved government record management.
More than 3,312 files were digitised, while 90,629 physical or electronic files were weeded out and closed.
Special Campaign 6.0 is scheduled for October 2–31, 2026, with a focus on e-waste collection, segregation and disposal.
