Several IITs are offering extra financial help to students who score very highly in national entrance exams.

IIT Kharagpur will give selected top GATE rankers a monthly fellowship while they study for a PhD.

IIT Kanpur offers top JEE Advanced students Rs 3 lakh each year.

IIT Roorkee offers some high-ranking JEE Advanced students Rs 25,000 every month.

These awards usually continue only if students maintain strong academic results.

IIT Delhi considers both exam rank and family income for one scholarship.

It is also creating a full-ride fellowship for five top undergraduate entrants, including one place reserved for the top woman JEE ranker.

IIT Kharagpur DPEF
Top-50 GATE 2026 rankers can receive Rs 80,000 per month for two years and Rs 90,000 per month for three subsequent years.
JAM eligibility
JAM 2026 rankers placed 1 to 50 may receive the DPEF when pursuing a master’s degree at IIT Kharagpur.
IIT Kanpur award
The Bright Minds Scholarship provides Rs 3 lakh annually to eligible top-100 JEE Advanced rankers.
IIT Roorkee award
The James Thomason Scholarship provides Rs 25,000 monthly to eligible JEE Advanced rankers up to All India Rank 250.
Academic conditions
IIT Kanpur requires a minimum 8.0 CPI, while IIT Roorkee requires a CGPA of at least 8.0 each academic year.
IIT Delhi income criterion
The Amit and Deepali Sinha Foundation Scholarship selects 15 students and requires family income below Rs 9 lakh annually, among other conditions.
IIT Delhi endowment
A Rs 10-crore endowment will establish a full-ride fellowship for five top undergraduate entrants each year, including one fellowship for the top woman JEE ranker.
