Dam Safety Panel Inspects Somasila, to Assess Kandaleru Next
A group of three dam experts checked Somasila Reservoir.
They wanted to see whether the dam is strong and safe.
The group is led by M. Gopal Reddy.
Venkateswarlu and Srikanth are the other members.
They examined the earth dam, crest gates and retaining wall.
The experts will next visit Kandaleru Reservoir on August 31 and September 1.
After both inspections, they will write a report.
The report will be sent to Central and state governments.
A three-member dam safety committee assessed Somasila Reservoir’s structural condition and safety measures.
The panel is headed by retired chief engineer M. Gopal Reddy and includes Venkateswarlu and Srikanth.
Inspectors examined Somasila’s earth dam, crest gates and retaining wall.
The committee will assess Kandaleru Reservoir on August 31 and September 1.
A report containing findings and recommendations will be submitted to Central and state governments.
