Lucknow Metro Phase 1B Adds 12 Stations Across Old City
Lucknow is planning to extend its metro into more parts of the city.
The new section will be 11.165 km long and have 12 stations.
Seven stations will be underground and five will be above ground.
It is planned to serve busy areas such as Aminabad, Yahiyaganj, Pandeyganj and Chowk.
It will also bring metro access closer to King George’s Medical University.
Afcons Infrastructure was the lowest bidder for a contract to build a 6.70-km underground section.
The contract gives 1,095 days for that work to be completed.
The new line could give people another way to travel and may reduce pressure on busy roads.
The project could also make nearby markets and businesses easier to reach.
Phase 1B will cover 11.165 km with 12 stations: seven underground and five elevated.
The Union Cabinet approved the project in August 2025 with an outlay of Rs 5,801 crore.

The 6.70-km underground section will run from Charbagh Metro Station to Chowk Metro Station, with a 1,095-day completion period.
