CPM Seeks Merger of Six Villages with Kakinada Municipal Corporation
In a city called Kakinada, there are six small villages on the edge of town.
For 15 years, these villages have not had their own local leaders or government.
That means there has been no one in charge to get money to build things like roads and schools.
A political group called the CPM wants to fix this.
They asked the government to make the villages part of the big city, called the Kakinada Municipal Corporation.
People who live in the city get services and elected representatives.
The CPM gave a letter to some important leaders asking for this change.
If it happens, the city government will be split into 68 divisions so everyone can be fairly represented.
The CPM wants the change to happen by the end of August.
That way, when the Election Commission releases the voter list on September 3, villagers can vote for their new leaders soon after.
CPM Kakinada Rural unit submitted a memorandum seeking a gazette notification to merge six villages with the Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC).
The six villages are Turangi, Indrapalem, Chidiga, Valasapakala, Vakalapudi and Ramanayyapeta.
The villages have had no elected local bodies for 15 years, hampering local development due to lack of funds.
Under G.O. No. 65 of March 24, 2026, the KMC would be reorganised into 68 divisions after including the six villages' population.
The CPM demanded the merger be completed by the end of August, ahead of the Election Commission's September 3 voter list release.
