Karnataka BJP seeks Nagendra's ouster from Cabinet over Valmiki scam
A minister in the Karnataka government is in big trouble with the opposition party.
His name is B Nagendra, and he was responsible for helping children from a community called Scheduled Tribes.
The police say he took crores of rupees that were supposed to help these children.
They say he sent the money to bank accounts in another state called Telangana.
Because of this, a special police agency called the Enforcement Directorate arrested him in July 2024.
A court later let him out on bail in October 2024.
Now he has been made a minister again, and the opposition BJP is very upset.
The BJP wants the Chief Minister to remove him from the Cabinet.
They also say he visited Delhi twice even though the court told him to stay in Karnataka.
The opposition says it will protest in the Assembly when the session starts on August 13.
Karnataka BJP demanded that Chief Minister D K Shivakumar drop Minister B Nagendra from the Cabinet over Valmiki Corporation embezzlement allegations.
State BJP president B Y Vijayendra said a charge sheet has been filed alleging Nagendra embezzled crores of rupees and transferred funds to bank accounts in Telangana.
The Enforcement Directorate arrested Nagendra in the Valmiki Corporation case in July 2024, and a Bengaluru special court granted him bail in October 2024.
Nagendra was re-inducted into the Shivakumar-led Ministry on August 3 after resigning from the previous Siddaramaiah-led Cabinet.
The BJP warned it would protest inside and outside the legislature when the Karnataka monsoon session begins on August 13.
