NSE IPO: Big Investors Trim Stakes While Largely Staying Put
The National Stock Exchange of India is selling shares to the public through an IPO.
Most of the big investors who sold shares did not sell all of what they owned.
Together, institutional investors sold shares equal to 5.11% of the exchange.
They had owned 36.82% before the IPO.
Some large investors reduced their holdings by only about 7% on average.
This means they received some money while continuing to own sizable stakes.
The IPO was fully subscribed on its second day.
Because this is an offer for sale, the money will go to existing shareholders, not to the exchange itself.
Institutional shareholders tendered shares representing a 5.11% stake in NSE through the IPO’s offer-for-sale component.
The 20 participating institutions held a combined 36.82% stake before the IPO.
Large shareholders including Aranda Investments, Stock Holding Corporation of India, SBI Capital Markets and ChrysCapital reduced holdings by about 7% on average.
The Rs 22,569-crore IPO was fully subscribed on its second bidding day, driven by non-institutional investors and qualified institutional buyers.
The issue is entirely an offer for sale, so proceeds will go to existing shareholders rather than the National Stock Exchange of India.
