Bhavnagar Methanol-Laced Liquor Death Toll Rises to 13
A poisonous drink containing methanol has killed 13 people in Bhavnagar, Gujarat.
The drink was made and sold as liquor, but people did not know it contained the toxic chemical.
Two more men died after becoming sick from the drink.
Their names were Mukesh Manilal Damor and Bhargav Upadhyay.
Three other patients are still in hospitals and are reported to be stable.
The drink affected people in at least three talukas.
Investigators said the makers prepared 25 cartons and sold 300 bottles.
Police have arrested 14 of the 21 people named as suspects.
The arrested suspects will remain in police custody until September 1.
Two more men died after drinking methanol-laced liquor brewed in Bhavnagar, raising the death toll to 13.
Mukesh Manilal Damor, 36, died Saturday night, while Bhargav Upadhyay, 42, died Sunday morning.
Three patients remain under treatment in Bhavnagar, with all reported to be in stable condition.
Investigators said 25 cartons and 300 bottles of the toxic liquor were produced and sold across at least three talukas.
The State Monitoring Cell has arrested 14 of 21 accused named in the FIR, with the suspects remanded until September 1.
