Election Chief to Engage Uttar Pradesh Youth, Strengthen Electoral Literacy
India’s top election official is visiting Uttar Pradesh for two days.
He will meet students and help them understand how elections work.
The visit will include a session at the college where he studied early in life.
Officials will also discuss new ways to teach young people about voting.
These programs are called Electoral Literacy Clubs, or ELCs.
The updated ELC 2.0 program will use activities and digital tools throughout the year.
A conference will show how people register, vote, and count votes.
The election chief will also listen to Booth Level Officers who work directly with voters.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar will lead a two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh beginning Monday.
He will interact with students and future voters at Colvin Taluqdars’ College in Lucknow.
A regional conference on ELC 2.0 and ECINET will be held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan.
The conference will demonstrate voter registration, voting, and vote-counting processes.
Kumar will also meet approximately 500 Booth Level Officers from Lucknow and nearby districts.
