Calcutta High Court Assigns Separate Venues to TMCP Factions
Two groups from the Trinamool Congress student organisation wanted to celebrate their foundation day at the same place in Kolkata.
They both wanted to use Mayo Road on August 28.
The Calcutta High Court said neither group could use that location separately.
The court assigned the Mamata Banerjee-led group to Cathedral Road.
It assigned the Ritabrata Banerjee-led group to Rani Rashmoni Avenue.
The events must take place from noon until 3 p.m.
The groups must limit their crowds and give police the details of 15 volunteers each.
The court also said one lane should remain open for traffic and offered permission for a joint Mayo Road event, but the sides did not agree.
