Singh Assures West Bengal Fisheries Assistance to Reach Top Position

Union Fisheries Minister Rajiv Lalan Singh said the central government will help West Bengal improve fishing and fish farming.

He pointed to the Sundarbans as a good place to produce shrimp and mud crabs.

West Bengal has a long coast and many water resources.

Officials discussed fishing in different kinds of water, including salty and less salty water.

The government also approved Rs 9 crore for six water-conservation projects.

India also exported 500 tonnes of hilsa fish to Bangladesh this year.
