Khairatabad Bypoll Set for Likely Three-Way Contest

Khairatabad is preparing for an Assembly byelection.

Three major parties—the Congress, BRS and BJP—are expected to compete.

The AIMIM may support the Congress.

The constituency now has 1.86 lakh registered voters after a voter-list review.

It includes wealthy neighborhoods, middle-income colonies and areas with sizable Muslim, Reddy, BC and SC populations.

In the last Assembly election, BRS candidate Danam Nagender came first.

Congress candidate P. Vijaya Reddy was second, and BJP candidate Chintala Ramachandra Reddy was third.

Some land and property issues appear to matter less to Khairatabad voters than they do in other constituencies.
