Varuna Yagams Held Across Nellore Seeking Timely Rainfall
People gathered at several temples in Nellore district on Tuesday to pray for rain.
Priests chanted special prayers and performed rituals asking Varuna, associated with rain, for good rainfall.
They hoped rain would help crops grow well.
They also prayed for the well-being of farmers, fishermen and other people.
Local elected representatives and devotees took part in some ceremonies.
A separate temple ceremony included Vedic chanting.
