SEBI Approves IHH Healthcare's Fortis Stake Acquisition
SEBI clears IHH Healthcare’s long-stalled 26.1% Fortis open offer after seven years · CNBC TV 18

Imagine a company from Malaysia, IHH Healthcare, wanted to buy more of a big hospital chain in India called Fortis Healthcare.

They first bought a part of it in 2018.

However, because of some disagreements and legal battles between previous owners and other companies, the plan to buy more shares got stuck.

Finally, after nearly seven years, the Indian government agency, SEBI, said it was okay for IHH to go ahead and buy the additional shares.

This means IHH can now own a bigger part of Fortis.

This decision ends a long wait and clears the way for the Malaysian company to increase its presence in the Indian healthcare market.
