TASMAC launches online liquor booking but no home delivery
The state of Tamil Nadu in India sells drinks like beer and wine through its own shops called TASMAC.
Now people can use a new website to buy these drinks from their phones or computers.
They can see what is available, check the price, and pay online.
After paying, they get a special code called a QR code.
They show this code at the shop to get their drinks.
There is no home delivery, so they must go pick up the order themselves.
The website works in two languages, Tamil and English.
People must be at least 21 years old to use it.
The idea is to save time and avoid long queues at the shops.
The website starts on August 6.
Tamil Nadu's state-run retailer TASMAC will launch the online portal Tasmace2e.in on Thursday, August 6.
Customers aged 21 and above can check live stock and prices, pay online, and collect their order in person using a QR code.
There is no home delivery; unlike Odisha and West Bengal, Tamil Nadu is using a self-pickup model.
The portal, available in Tamil and English, lets customers search outlets within a 5 km to 25 km radius or by shop number and district.
The launch follows a July 24 circular from managing director K Nandakumar warning TASMAC staff of suspension, transfer, or dismissal for overcharging.
