Karnataka Suspends IAS Officer After KPSC Recruitment Scam Arrest
Karnataka has suspended an IAS officer named Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar.
He was arrested over allegations connected to hiring exams run by the Karnataka Public Service Commission.
Investigators say materials found during a search suggested corruption in those recruitment processes.
Gangwar was the KPSC Controller of Examinations at the time mentioned in the order.
He was first sent to judicial custody and later placed in police custody for investigation.
The suspension will continue until further orders.
The government said the allegations could harm the fairness and transparency of recruitment.
The case is still being investigated, so the allegations have not been finally proved.
The Karnataka Government suspended IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar pending an investigation into alleged corruption in Karnataka Public Service Commission recruitments.
Gangwar was arrested on August 29 in a case registered at Vidhana Soudha Police Station under specified provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Karnataka law.
He was remanded to judicial custody on August 30 and taken into police custody on August 31, according to the CID.
The Directorate of Enforcement said seized material indicated corruption in KPSC recruitment processes allegedly attributable to Gangwar, who was then Controller of Examinations.
The suspension order, dated September 3, cites alleged violations of All India Services conduct rules and restricts Gangwar from leaving headquarters without permission.
