Vigilance officials raid six rice mills over paddy stock shortages
Government officers checked rice mills in Wanaparthy to see if the rice millers still had all the paddy, or rice grains, that the government had given them.
They found that some mills did not have all the paddy they were supposed to have.
This is a bit like lending someone your crayons and getting fewer back than you gave them.
The officers visited six mills and filed formal complaints, which are called cases.
Some mills were missing very large amounts of paddy worth many crores of rupees.
One mill could not account for paddy worth 23.06 crore rupees.
Another mill was told it must return money to the government within three days.
If it does not pay in time, a case will be filed against it.
The officers are working to make sure government grain is not lost or misused.
State Vigilance and Enforcement officials raided six rice mills in Wanaparthy district within a week over pending paddy stocks.
Rythu Agro Industries in Kothakota was found short of 6,184.297 MT of government-supplied paddy valued at Rs 23.06 crore.
Eshwara Traders in Peddamandadi had a shortage of 1,386.894 MT (Rs 5.80 crore), with cases registered at Peddamandadi and Kothakota police stations.
