Delhi Police nab habitual offender, recover arms in Sunder Nagri
Police are people who keep our cities safe.
In a part of New Delhi called Sunder Nagri, officers were out on routine patrol.
Someone gave them a secret tip about a man carrying an illegal weapon.
The officers found the man near a public restroom, and he tried to run away.
They chased him and caught him.
The man is 23 years old and his name is Shahnawaz, also known as Shanu.
The police found a gun, four bullets, and a knife with him.
Police say he is a habitual offender, meaning he has broken the law before.
He has been linked to five earlier cases, including robbery and theft.
Now the police are investigating where he got the gun.
Delhi Police arrested 23-year-old Shahnawaz alias Shanu, a habitual offender, in the Sunder Nagri area on August 7.
A police team from Nand Nagri Police Station recovered a country-made semi-automatic pistol, four live cartridges and a dragon knife from his possession.
The accused tried to flee on seeing the police but was chased and apprehended near H-Block, Sulabh Shauchalaya at Jhuggi Sunder Nagri.
Shahnawaz admitted to the crime and disclosed his source of arms, which is being probed by police.
FIR No. 434/2026 under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act was registered at PS Nand Nagri.
