Kill Director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat to Helm Jamie Foxx's Deadlocked
A movie director from India just got a very big new job.
His name is Nikhil Nagesh Bhat.
He made a famous action movie called Kill.
Now he will direct a new action thriller called Deadlocked.
It is a hostage story starring Jamie Foxx, an actor who won an Oscar.
The movie will be made by Amazon MGM Studios and shown on Prime Video.
When Bhat was young, robbers attacked the train he was riding between Patna and Pune.
That scary memory later became the story for Kill.
This will be Bhat's very first Hollywood movie, and it is the first time an Indian director will lead a mainstream Hollywood star.
Millions of people around the world will be able to watch his new movie.
Indian filmmaker Nikhil Nagesh Bhat will direct Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx in Deadlocked, a hostage action thriller for Amazon MGM Studios.
Deadlocked will stream globally on Prime Video and marks the first time an Indian filmmaker will direct a mainstream Hollywood A-lister.
Bhat's breakthrough action film Kill, starring Lakshya and Raghav Juyal, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023 and was first runner-up in the People's Choice Award: Midnight Madness category.
Kill was inspired by a train robbery Bhat experienced as a young man travelling between Patna and Pune in the mid-1990s.
Foxx is producing through Foxxhole Productions with Range Media Partners and C2 Motion Picture Group; Corinne Foxx serves as executive producer and the screenplay is by Eric Scot Anderson and Matt Takejiro Bosack.
