Northwest China on High Alert Over Heavy Rain and Floods
Heavy rain fell in northwest China, especially in the cities of Xian and Longnan.
Because of the rain, the local governments said it was very dangerous and warned people about floods and landslides.
They shut down many tourist spots so people would stay safe.
Some places even had landslides that hurt people.
The news said that many tourists had to stay away from the parks and valleys for now.
Authorities in Shaanxi and Gansu provinces issued emergency alerts due to heavy rain.
Xian upgraded its rainstorm warning to the highest red level after flooding in urban areas.
Gansu raised its heavy rain emergency response level to Level III and issued a red alert for geological disasters in Longnan.
Over 61 tourist attractions in Longnan were temporarily closed by 4 p.m. local time.
Recent landslides and flash floods in Gansu have already caused multiple fatalities.
