Some colleges in Odisha that train doctors did very well in a big national ranking list called the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework, or IIRF.

SCB Medical College in Cuttack got the 15th best score in all of India.

That means it did better than AIIMS Bhubaneswar, which came 16th, the first time a government medical college in Odisha has ranked ahead of it.

Two other Odisha medical colleges, VIMSAR and MKCG, also made the list.

The health minister congratulated the doctors, teachers, students and other staff for their hard work.

The government is spending Rs 1,000 crore to improve SCB Medical College.

It is also spending Rs 600 crore on MKCG and VIMSAR.

These upgrades are meant to strengthen medical education, research and healthcare in the state.

Experts say this success may attract more students who want to become doctors to study in Odisha.
