Dengue Hotspots Emerge Across Bengal Ahead of Durga Puja
Dengue cases have recently risen in parts of West Bengal.
Health officials identified 14 village councils and eight city authorities as hotspots.
Several affected areas are in Murshidabad, and some city wards in Kolkata, Bidhannagar and Howrah have also seen increases.
The total number of cases reported so far in 2026 is lower than at the same point in 2025.
But many cases have appeared recently, including nearly 1,100 in the first week of October.

Most affected gram panchayats are in Murshidabad district; others are in five additional districts.
Hotspot wards were identified in Kolkata, Bidhannagar and Howrah municipal corporations.
