Mumbai’s civic administration created a new programme for young professionals.

It has only 50 fellowship places.

However, 10,820 people registered to apply.

This means many more people applied than there are places.

The selected fellows will work with civic officials for one year.

They will learn about making policies, planning projects and running government services.

Each fellow will receive Rs 61,500 every month.

The BMC will now check the applications and choose the fellows.
