Andhra Pradesh to Train Rural SHG Women as Caregivers
Andhra Pradesh is starting a programme to train rural women for caregiving jobs.
It is called “Home Aaya – Geriatric Care Taker.”
The training is for women in self-help groups and will be free, including accommodation.
They will learn how to care for older people and patients who are bedridden.
They will also learn about hygiene, first aid, and communication.
Visits to care facilities will help them see what caregiving work is like.
The programme will also teach them about banking, digital payments, and managing money.
The government hopes this can help women find work near home and earn a steady income.
Wider training is planned for the 2026–27 financial year.
