Punjab Transfers ₹1,262.54 Crore to Women Under Welfare Scheme
Punjab has sent money directly to the bank accounts of 36.87 lakh women.
The payment is part of a program called the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna.
Each eligible woman received between ₹3,000 and ₹4,500 for three months.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the government has transferred ₹3,824.87 crore through the program so far.
He said nearly 97% of women in Punjab could eventually qualify.
The government wants the program to reach one crore women.
Workers who helped register women will also receive incentives.
Mann also described government efforts in education, electricity supply and farming.
These claims were made during a gathering at Sri Goindwal Sahib.
