12 Death Certificates Issued After Tribal Families’ Months-Long Wait
Families in two remote tribal hamlets had been waiting months for death certificates.
They had applied several times and paid the required fees.
The villagers also had to travel long distances to government offices.
They protested on April 12 to ask for help.
After a newspaper reported their problem, Joint Collector Thirumani Poojitha visited the area.
Officials checked the applications and issued 12 of the 17 certificates.
Five certificates are still pending.
The families want those remaining certificates issued soon so they can complete important land and banking work.
Twelve late death certificates were issued to families in Buriga and Chinna Konala hamlets.
Seventeen applications had been pending, leaving five certificates still to be issued.
Joint Collector Thirumani Poojitha visited Buriga after villagers’ protest and directed officials to act.
Residents said long travel distances and repeated visits caused financial hardship.
The certificates are needed for family member certificates, land transactions and bank withdrawals.
