India’s Financial Inclusion Index Rises as Jan Dhan Deposits Surge
India’s Financial Inclusion Index Climbs From 53.9 To 67, Jan Dhan Deposits Surge 20-Fold To ₹3.16 Lakh Crore · freepressjournal.in

India’s Financial Inclusion Index measures how easily people can use banking and related services.

It rose from 53.9 in 2018 to 67 in 2026.

The Jan Dhan programme now has 59.09 crore bank accounts.

Many of these accounts are in rural and semi-urban areas.

Women make up 32.92 crore of the beneficiaries.

Money saved in these accounts grew to ₹3,16,514 crore by August 19, 2026.

Account holders can receive government payments directly and use insurance, pension and credit schemes.

Eligible customers can also receive a RuPay debit card and an overdraft of up to ₹10,000.
