Corporator Halts Nashik Road Digging Four Months After Concreting
A city in India called Nashik built a new road between two areas called CBS and Canada Corner.
The road was finished just four months ago.
The city had promised that roads would not be dug up again after they were built.
But people saw workers digging up this new road anyway.
A city leader named Dr Hemlata Patil rushed to the spot and told the workers to stop.
The workers said they were digging to put in utility lines, which carry things like cables and pipes.
No city engineers were there to watch the work.
Dr Patil was very upset because the road cost a lot of money and was already being broken.
She made the workers fill the hole back with soil.
She is asking for an investigation and for the road to be fixed.
The road between CBS and Canada Corner in Nashik was concreted only four months ago and is being dug up again.
The excavation was to lay utility lines as part of a Smart City Company project.
Corporator Dr Hemlata Patil halted the work and had the dug-up section refilled with soil.
No engineer from the Municipal Corporation or the Smart City Company was present at the site.
Dr Patil called it a waste of public funds and demanded an inquiry, the Commissioner's written permission before resuming, and repair of the road.
