Severe Cold Grips North India
It's very cold in many parts of North India, especially in Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab.
In Rajasthan, places like Dungarpur were as cold as 3 degrees Celsius, and the government decided to extend the winter vacation for school kids, especially in the younger classes, in many districts.
This is because it's too cold for them to go to school.
In Haryana, Narnaul was the coldest place with 4 degrees Celsius, and other places like Bhiwani and Sirsa were also very cold.
The cold wave is caused by thick fog and low clouds that block the sun, keeping temperatures low even during the day.
The government wants to keep the kids safe and warm at home.
Night temperatures in Rajasthan dipped below 10°C in several areas.
