India's Renu Dhariyal Sets Guinness World Record for Longest Hair
Indian Woman Sets World Record For Longest Hair, Has Never Cut It Since 2015. · NDTV

A woman in India named Renu Dhariyal has set a world record for having the longest hair of any living woman.

Her hair is 271.50 centimeters long, which is about 8 feet and 10 inches — almost as tall as a door.

It is even just a little shorter than Robert Wadlow, the tallest man who ever lived, who was 272 centimeters tall.

Guinness World Records officially measured her hair in Haldwani, a city in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, in April.

Her hair beats the old record of 257.33 centimeters, which belonged to Aliia Nasyrova of Ukraine.

Renu started growing her hair in 2015 and has never cut it since.

She grew it long because in Indian culture, long hair is a symbol of beauty and tradition.

Taking care of hair this long takes many hours of washing and detangling.

Renu uses homemade natural oils and shampoos and shares beauty tips online.

She hopes her record inspires other people to stay committed to their goals.
