The Samajwadi Party changed two of the people it plans to put forward in Uttar Pradesh’s Legislative Council elections.

Akash Agrawal will now run for the teachers’ seat in Agra.

Sanjay Tripathi will run for the teachers’ seat in Gorakhpur-Faizabad.

They replace Ram Prakash Gupta and Kamlesh Yadav, respectively.

Party leader Akhilesh Yadav said the changes were made with the leaders’ agreement.

He thanked the earlier candidates and said they could be given other responsibilities later.

The party said Agrawal had support among teachers and local organisational standing.

Akhilesh Yadav also criticized the state government and raised issues including jobs, education, and healthcare.

Voting is scheduled for October 23, and the votes are due to be counted on October 27.
