Telangana ACB Arrests Panchayat Secretary in Rs.13,000 Bribe Case

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested a village official named J. Varalaxmi.

Officials said she asked for money to approve a house construction and give the house a number.

She first asked for Rs.20,000.

Later, she agreed to take Rs.13,000.

She did not take the money in cash.

Instead, she told the complainant to send it through PhonePe.

The money was sent to the PhonePe account of another Panchayat Secretary named Lavanya.

The demand and payment instructions were recorded as evidence.

The complainant’s identity has not been released for safety reasons.
